Just like the swallows flocking
back to San Juan Capistrano, a
countless number of college students embarked on there annual pilgrimage to
Lake Havasu, Arizona to indulge in the
right of passage known as Spring Break!
Although the water is
still a-bit chilly in early March, the arid warm desert air is an awesome complement. The
cool spring nights require a light sweater but the days are perfect for bikinis and board shorts! Kokomos,
one of the biggest club's in Lake Havasu City which is located in the channel at
The London Bridge Resort
opened to a great start! The club had a decent crowd every night
as the music pumped and the beer flowed! We had our best nights partying at the
outside bar located at the
Nautical Inn Resort.
We ran across people from as far
a way as Washington D.C., Washington State, Denver,
Wyoming, Texas, Kansas, Indiana, Ohio, Oregon, Illinois, and Utah so as you
can imagine the crowds were very diverse and very friendly.
What to expect?
As you can expect Lake Havasu and the surrounding area is quite tranquil. Not
only will you see 1000's of young partying college students during spring break,
but with over 450 miles of pristine coastline there is an adventure awaiting in
every cove! The best and only way to take advantage of a vacation at Havasu is
on a boat. You can rent many types of boats from local boat operators throughout
the region. We have a list of places where you
can rent a boat on our
Travel page.
If you are looking for an inexpensive way to party at spring break, the best
way is to go in with 10 to 20 of your friends and rent a house boat! This
way you can split the cost which will run about $100 per person for the week! If you want to rent a
house boat, make your reservations early! If you are planning on partying with
at least 10 people and you can not get a house boat, you may want to rent a
pontoon boat. This is a large platform boat with a ton of room for having fun.
You can also rent regular boats or jet skis. Remember when you rent a boat you are responsible for it!
Anything that you or your friends break on it you will be charged for! ** Do not
drink and drive your boat ** It is ok to drink and party on your boat, but if
you are the driver/Captain make sure that you are sober or sober enough to pass a
breathalyzer test! If you get caught here is what you will win: a free trip to jail, a bill
for a few thousand dollars, and a trip back to Arizona for
a court date! Just treat your boat like a car and you will be ok. The place
you rent
your boat will enlighten you with all of the details, if they don't be sure you ask!

Many spring breakers just show up to Havasu
with no boat, hotel, or camping reservations and they get along just fine. It's
pretty easy to meet new people, hang out with them for a day or two and then
hook up with another group. We do not recommend that you take this approach for
obvious reasons, but it is an option that works. If your on a budget you can
camp on the shore of the lake or in your car for free! You may also choose to stay
in a camp site with
showers and restrooms for under $20 a day. We have a list of campsites on our
travel page. There are many hotels located in Havasu, the best location is on
the Island or by the English Village in the channel. If you stay here you will be with in walking
distance to all of the on-land action! We have a complete list of hotels located
in the area on our
travel page. There are plenty of restaurants, shopping
centers, and super markets with in walking distance of the channel. If you would like to fly into Havasu you can see how
much it costs on our
travel page as well. The airport is a short taxi ride to
all of the
madness! When you arrive at London Bridge you can walk, take a shuttle, or hitch
a ride just about anywhere. Your evenings will be spent in this general area or
partying on a boat. Your days will defiantly be spent on a boat in the channel,
copper canyon, or the sand bar!
